Job Descriptions - Human Resources Department Revised on 2/21/2024 Position: Intern - Central Office Department/Campus: Program - Biomedical Lab Reports to: Research Scientist FLSA Status: Non-exempt Pay Grade: 1011 Job Type Part Time Work Hours Normal School hours JOB GOAL Assist Research Scientist and other staff in the HPS Biomedical Lab in daily operations, secretarial and clerical duties. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: o High School Diploma o Be a former Harmony Public School (HPS) student or graduate from one of HPS serving sister schools o Cumulative 2.5 GPA in higher education courses (preferred) o Enrolled as a half-time student at college or university (preferred) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: o Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools. o Maintains confidentiality regarding staff and school related issues. o Assists Biomedical Lab staff in daily operations. o Coordinates office operations. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers the most complex issues to higher levels. o Assists in preparing supplies and equipment for experiments, as needed. o Assists in scheduling student visits to the lab. o Assists drafting letters, webpage content, and social media content. o Disseminates and maintains office supplies and materials.
 o Assists in preparing purchase orders.
 o Prepares and submits payment for purchases as required.
 o Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, productive and smoothly run office. o Uses effective, positive interpersonal communication skills. o Performs other duties as assigned.
 SKILLS AND ABILITIES: o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district. o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district. o Ability to use computer including software, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone. o Ability to analyze data o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: o Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting. o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required. o Position is in a lab setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location. o Light travel is required.
