Intern, Engineering

Location: On-site in Omaha, Nebraska. 

Job Summary:

This position provides exposure to work within an interdisciplinary project team comprised of engineers, environmental scientists, plant asset and operations managers, financial and market analysts, and business development professionals. This is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where creativity and a thorough understanding of complex technical issues are required to provide innovative energy project solutions for its stakeholders.

The successful candidate will provide technical support, using analytical skills and engineering principles, to various tasks in support of (A) development phase energy projects (gas power, solar, wind, battery storage, etc.) projects, (B) Tenaska’s existing power plants, and (C) evaluation of new energy technologies (e.g. long duration energy storage, fuel cells) and (D) potential acquisitions.

Essential Job Functions:               

1. Support project development
2. Provide project engineering support
3. Complete technical due diligence and technoeconomic assessments
4. Work closely with an engineering project manager and/or project engineer
5. Collaborate with internal team members and external consultants
6. Present and summarize work task findings with coworkers and management
7. Some travel may be required

Basic Requirements:

Strong technical and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferably a 3^rd year Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering student; other engineering disciplines and 2^nd year students will be considered.
