Responsibilities

The Government Relations Intern position is designed to expose an undergraduate college student to the federal legislative process and the various aspects surrounding the defense and aerospace industry. The intern will increase their knowledge of the Congressional authorization and appropriations process by assisting the Government Relations team with various research, writing, and activities as assigned. The successful candidate will also get hands on experience with the daily administrative functions of PAC management and the federal regulations associated with it.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Government Relations team on a daily basis with various ad-hoc projects.
  • Monitor congressional meetings and hearings as appropriate.
  • Perform research for the department as needed using news services such as Politico, as well as reading and understanding the Presidents Budget request, Congressional bills, and report language.
  • Work directly with the Government Relations staff on all General Dynamics hosted political events held at our two Washington, DC facilities.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Ohio State University within the Washington Academic Internship Program (WAIP).
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Desire to learn about the defense and aerospace industry.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Must be willing to work in the office Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

Salary Note:

Hourly Salary Rate: $25/Hr
