This Internship is for Summer 2027.

Summary:

As the Intern - Manufacturing Engineer, you will support mechanical and manufacturing engineering activities for new and existing aerospace electronic products. You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical design, production processes, tooling and fixtures, engineering documentation, and shop-floor problem solving while collaborating with Engineering, Production, Quality, and the machine shop to improve product manufacturability, process consistency, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Prepare and update mechanical drawings and engineering change documentation.
  • Support mechanical design and detailing for new and existing products.
  • Design and develop fixtures, tooling, gages, and other production aids under engineering guidance.
  • Create and update work instructions, process documentation, inspection requirements, and supporting visual aids.
  • Assist with prototype builds, engineering trials, process validation, and data collection.
  • Support continuous improvement projects involving workflow, cycle time, scrap, capacity, and production efficiency.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrate a foundational understanding of mechanical design, engineering drawings, and manufacturing principles.
  • Possess experience with 3D CAD software through coursework, academic projects, employment, or a previous internship.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Candidates must be a U.S. Person, defined as either a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), and must be able to provide appropriate documentation upon hire to verify this status. Please note that some positions involve sensitive customer contracts and require U.S. citizenship as a condition of employment.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or comparable design software.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, tolerances, and basic GD&T concepts.
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication, additive manufacturing, or assembly.
  • Experience designing fixtures, tooling, prototypes, or other production aids.

Work Schedule and Environment

  • Monday to Friday, Day Shift
  • Discretionary 9/80 Schedule
  • Business casual dress code

Full-time schedules for Summer internships. Approx. Start Date End of May/Beg of June. Internship salary is based on position and academic year standing.
