Internal Medicine Physician – Primary Care/Outpatient Only
Position Summary
The Internal Medicine Physician provides comprehensive primary care services to adult patients, focusing on preventive care, diagnosis and management of acute and chronic medical conditions, and long-term continuity of care. This role emphasizes evidence-based medicine, care coordination, and patient-centered outcomes in an ambulatory primary care setting.
Key Responsibilities
Provide outpatient primary care to adult and geriatric patients
Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, and routine health assessments
Diagnose and manage acute illnesses and complex chronic medical conditions
Deliver preventive care services, including screenings, immunizations, and wellness visits
Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
Order, interpret, and document laboratory and diagnostic test results
Manage medication regimens and chronic disease follow-up
Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice
Coordinate care with specialists, hospitals, and ancillary services
Educate patients on disease prevention, lifestyle modification, and self-management
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record
Participate in quality improvement, population health, and patient safety initiatives
Practice Setting
Outpatient internal medicine or primary care clinic
Minimal or no inpatient responsibilities depending on practice model
Scheduled clinic hours with limited after-hours call as applicable
Patient Population
Adult and geriatric patients
Broad range of preventive, acute, and chronic medical conditions
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
DEA registration or eligibility
