The Safer Foundation is a social service provider to individuals with arrest and conviction records. Through a full range of services, including case management, educational instruction and advocacy, we focus on preparing individuals for the world of work by helping them find and keep productive and meaningful employment

General Summary: Through the Services of Safer Foundation provide a professional learning experience whereby a student’s field of study or career interest can receive specific career exploration and development in service of the public via the perspective of a not-for-profit internship. 

Position Results Description 

The experience is properly performed when all essential departmental experiences/responsibilities are developed and executed by following the Safer Values.

Internship Interfaces and Service Career Paths:   

This internship program builds career paths in five key fields: Interns gain hands-on experience and professional skills suited for these public service and creative industries. 

Program Focus Areas 

• Education and Training: Support learning programs, assist instructors, and develop educational materials.

• Criminal Justice: Learn about legal systems, community safety, and public policy support.

• Art: Assist with creative projects, gallery displays, or community visual programs.

• Audio/Video Technology and Digital Communication: Help produce media, edit video or sound, and manage digital content.

• Not-for-Profit Administration: Support daily operations, fundraising, and community outreach campaigns.

Experiences and Responsibilities: 

• Delivered direct instruction in a non-traditional environment, tailoring lesson plans to support unique student abilities and increase engagement.

• Assisted staff with educational assessments and diagnoses for serving adult students with diverse learning needs. 

• Assisted with guiding enrollee placement and building individual work progress plans to support student success. 

• Supported student recruitment and intake by coordinating enrollment paperwork and maintaining accurate program records.

• Aided the development of a student training program for digital media and audio tech.

• Supported non-profit program operations by aiding with managing partner relationships and tracking stakeholder feedback.

• Authored a detailed internship narrative that showcased technical skills acquired in [Specific Tool/Language] and measured project outcomes delivered to the team.

• Met weekly with mentors to align on deliverables and improve workflow efficiency.

• Reported to multiple site locations timely. 

Education and Experience: 

• Post-Secondary seeking practical experience with credentialing, Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate in related disciplines.

• Full ability to complete a minimum of 240-hours with prescribed internship.
