Responsibilities/Job Description:

Here at Fairview, we are now seeking an Interventional Radiologic Technologist to join our imaging team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank location in Minneapolis, MN! This is a casual position that will work as needed by the department. We are currently looking for coverage on the day shift, as well as on-call coverage on the evening/night/weekends. Minimum requirement is to pick up 1 shift per month.

 

The Technologist provides services to patients and physicians through the creation of high-quality diagnostic imaging, provides quality age-appropriate patient care according to established standards of practice, and works collaboratively with all members of the health care team. The interventional technologist assists with invasive procedures in the Interventional angio suites, collects and assesses image data and performs scrub role assisting the radiologist.

 

Responsibilities

  • Participates in creating a culture of patient safety 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency preparedness 
  • Verify patient identification and documentation 
  • Communicate with and educate patient regarding pertinent information during all aspects of the procedure. 
  • Achieves quality diagnostic images through correct patient positioning and use of technical factors according to protocols. 
  • Proficient in patient preparation and sterile tray set up. 
  • Performs examinations 
  • Identifies relevant data from images accurately. 
  • Communicates pertinent data clearly to the appropriate health care professional 
  • Accurately completes computer functions; edits, scheduling, billing, status changes and image transfers in a timely manner 
  • Accurate image marking and digital image manipulation and archiving 
  • Accurate and timely identification and uploading of images into PACS. 
  • Orients and mentors new employees and students 
  • Participates in department/facility process/quality improvement initiatives 
  • Responsible for personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge required for position  
  • Cleans and maintains rooms and supplies 
  • Identifies and responds to equipment problems to ensure equipment is working properly. 
  • Maintains a high level of competency  
  • Accepts new technology as it’s introduced into the facility 
  •  Applies established standards of aseptic technique during patient preparation, draping and set up for all procedures. 
  •  During invasive procedures able to achieve and maintain homeostasis manually or with mechanical device of physician choice when required.  
  •  Assists the radiologist with required catheter and wire manipulation while maintain the required sterile technique. 
  •  Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served. 

 

 Required Qualifications

  • ARRT Registered

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year experience as an Interventional technologist
  • ARRT IR certification or successful completion within 18 months of hire.

 

Qualifications:

$40.30- $55.40 Hourly
