INVENTORY ASSISTANT – PHARMACY WAREHOUSE

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE

• Pay Rate: $17.31 per hour

• Monday: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

• Tuesday: 6:00 AM–4:30 PM

• Wednesday–Friday: 6:00 AM–2:30 PM

• Rotational Saturdays and mandatory overtime as required

ROLE IMPACT

The Inventory Assistant supports pharmacy operations by ensuring medications and supplies are accurately received, verified, and stored. This position plays an important role in patient safety, inventory accuracy, and timely prescription fulfillment. Success requires meeting daily productivity standards, maintaining organized inventory records, and promptly reporting discrepancies.

KEY DUTIES

• Unload trucks, break down pallets, sort totes, and verify National Drug Codes (NDCs), quantities, and purchase orders (POs) for accuracy. Identify and separate controlled substances.

• Use handheld RF scanners and inventory systems to receive products, record quantities, complete cycle counts, and report shortages, overages, damaged items, and incorrect shipments.

• Put away products in assigned bin locations, replenish automated pharmacy equipment, rotate stock using first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures, and identify expired or short-dated inventory.

• Maintain daily productivity records, support annual inventory counts, assist with purchase order discrepancies, and help process product recalls and quarantines.

• Follow warehouse safety procedures, Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) requirements, HIPAA privacy standards, and established pharmacy inventory procedures. Assist with packing, sorting, and shipping prescriptions when needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Basic computer skills, mathematical ability, and attention to detail for accurate counting, inventory verification, and data entry.

• Ability to work independently, perform repetitive tasks, meet productivity expectations, and reliably work the assigned schedule, including rotational Saturdays and mandatory overtime.

EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• General office and warehouse environment.

• Able to select, lift, and carry objects (up to 20 – 25 lbs) on a regular basis.

• Operate pallet jack, hand truck, or dolly.

• Safe operation of a box cutter to cut cases of product.

• Extensive walking and standing (8+ hours/day)

• Requires bending, twisting, reaching and grasping.

• Use of step ladder to reach product

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Previous warehouse, distribution, inventory control, or pharmacy fulfillment experience.

• Experience using RF scanners, handheld inventory devices, or Zebra Scanner equipment.

• Strong organizational skills, dependable attendance, and effective communication with warehouse and pharmacy teams.
