Position Overview
An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records for the warehouse. This role ensures that products are received, stored, tracked, counted, and shipped while minimizing inventory discrepancies and supporting efficient operations.
Branch: All Tile - CCS in Wood Dale, IL
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st Shift
Pay: $22-$24/hr
Essential Functions
Inventory & Quality
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Verify inventory accuracy in the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Reconcile physical counts with the system's records.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Monitor & Control
- Monitor inventory levels and stock availability.
- Track product movement throughout the warehouse.
- Ensure products are stored in the correct warehouse locations.
- Prevent stock losses, shrinkage, and misplacements.
Reporting
- Generate inventory reports.
- Analyze trends in inventory variances and errors.
- Support forecasting and inventory planning efforts.
Warehouse Operations Support
- Coordinate with the warehouse team on order fulfillment.
- Pick products according to customer orders by using an RF scanner or pick tickets.
- Verify product quantities and descriptions.
- Safely pack products by properly shrink-wrapping, strapping, and banding pallets for storage and transport.
- Load and unload products onto customer vehicles.
- Stage completed orders for outbound transportation and support with loading products onto vehicles to ensure timely delivery.
- Unload incoming shipments.
- Verify received quantities against packing slips.
- Inspect products for visible damage.
- Place inventory into designated storage locations.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Safely operate forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, pallet jacks, or other material-handling equipment.
- Follow OSHA and company safety regulations.
- Use proper lifting techniques and material handling procedures.
- Maintain clean work areas.
- Promote safe work practices among team members.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or required.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Degree.
Work Experience
- 3+ years of inventory control, warehouse, or distribution center experience.
- Knowledge and proficiency in inventory auditing procedures.
- Experience in the flooring and building materials industry is a plus.
- Experience working with WMS; Epicor P21 is a plus.
Physical Demand and Work Environment
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills and reading comprehension skills.
- Strong data entry and database management skills.
- Accurate typing and documentation skills.
- Frequent bending, lifting, kneeling, and reaching.
- Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver equipment.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repeatedly and independently, and heavier items with assistance.
- Able to wear work boots, safety-toed shoes, hi-vis vest, and meet the standard of the company's workplace safety.
- Must be comfortable working in a warehouse environment and operating powered industrial equipment.
- Legally permitted to work in the United States.
