Inventory Control Coordinator

Location: Gardena, CA | Hybrid

Schedule: Full-Time

Contract role: 3 to 4 months

Compensation: $26

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Control Coordinator to support inventory operations for a well-established food distribution organization. This position is responsible for receiving, allocating, transferring, and reconciling inventory across multiple warehouse locations while ensuring inventory records remain accurate and customer orders are fulfilled on time.

The ideal candidate has strong inventory control, order fulfillment, or warehouse coordination experience and is comfortable working across multiple systems and departments. Experience within food distribution, protein/meat, refrigerated/frozen foods, or another high-volume perishable product environment is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Receiving

• Receive and verify inbound inventory across multiple warehouse locations.

• Confirm product information including lot numbers, pack dates, quantities, and shelf life.

• Maintain accurate inventory records and support product traceability.

• Ensure system inventory aligns with physical product.

Inventory Allocation & Order Fulfillment

• Reserve available and incoming inventory against open customer orders.

• Monitor orders daily to support complete and on-time fulfillment.

• Identify shortages, overages, inventory discrepancies, and product concerns.

• Communicate inventory issues proactively with Account Management and other internal teams.

Warehouse Transfers & Inventory Movement

• Create, process, and reconcile transfer orders between warehouse locations.

• Maintain timely and accurate system updates for inventory movements.

• Monitor transfers to ensure physical inventory and system records remain aligned.

Inventory Reconciliation

• Assist with weekly and monthly inventory reconciliations.

• Research inventory variances and determine the cause of discrepancies.

• Work with warehouse and inventory teams to correct issues and reduce recurring discrepancies.

Vendor, Claims & Quality Support

• Process vendor and warehouse claims within established deadlines.

• Coordinate product samples for quality testing, customer requests, and food shows.

• Assist with product-related issues and quality initiatives.

Compliance & Documentation

• Coordinate USDA and USDC inspection requests and certifications with warehouse teams.

• Maintain required inventory and compliance documentation.

• Support adherence to applicable food distribution, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Reporting & Inventory Metrics

• Maintain accurate inventory data and support departmental reporting.

• Track key inventory measures, including label and box inventory.

• Provide visibility into inventory trends, shortages, discrepancies, and other operational concerns.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Partner closely with Logistics, Account Management, Procurement, Inventory Control, and warehouse teams.

• Provide backup support to Logistics Coordinators as needed.

• Follow established SOPs and inventory control procedures while maintaining a solutions-oriented approach.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.

• Previous experience in inventory control, inventory coordination, warehouse operations, logistics, distribution, order fulfillment, or a related field.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inventory records.

• Ability to research and resolve inventory discrepancies.

• Comfortable coordinating inventory across multiple warehouse locations.

• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively across multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Experience within food distribution, food manufacturing, meat/protein, refrigerated/frozen products, or other perishable goods.

• Experience working with inventory management, ERP, or warehouse management systems.

• Familiarity with lot tracking, shelf-life management, inventory transfers, reconciliation, and product traceability.

• Exposure to USDA/USDC requirements or other regulated food environments.
