LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing organization. We are seeking an experienced Inventory Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing, inventory control, and vendor management operations for a growing manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring material availability, optimizing inventory levels, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-effective procurement strategies that support production demands and overall operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in purchasing, inventory planning, supplier negotiations, and manufacturing operations, along with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with production, warehouse, finance, and leadership teams.
Inventory Purchasing Manager
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Work Schedule: Fully Onsite
Compensation: $110,000 - $125,000 annually
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily purchasing and inventory management activities to ensure raw materials, components, and supplies are available to meet production and operational requirements.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that balance cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.
- Monitor inventory levels, reorder points, safety stock, and lead times to reduce stockouts and excess inventory.
- Analyze purchasing trends, usage patterns, and forecasts to support accurate inventory planning and cost control.
- Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing, contract negotiation, pricing discussions, and performance reviews.
- Partner with production, planning, and operations teams to align purchasing activity with manufacturing schedules and customer demand.
- Review and approve purchase orders, vendor agreements, and inventory adjustments.
- Track key performance indicators such as inventory turns, fill rates, supplier on-time delivery, purchase price variance, and material availability.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within procurement and inventory workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable purchasing procedures.
- Lead cycle count processes, inventory reconciliation efforts, and support month-end or year-end reporting requirements.
- Supervise and mentor purchasing or inventory team members as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, purchasing processes, and vendor management.
- Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities.
- Proven negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, onsite manufacturing setting and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with demand planning, forecasting, and material requirements planning.
- Familiarity with lean inventory practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Background supporting production scheduling and cross-functional supply chain operations.
- Experience developing purchasing metrics and inventory reporting for leadership review.
