A highly respected California law firm is seeking an experienced Investigations Partner Attorney with an established portable practice to lead sophisticated workplace, ethics, governance, and compliance investigations for public and private sector clients statewide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead independent workplace, ethics, compliance, and governance investigations
  • Conduct investigations involving executive misconduct, personnel matters, and organizational culture
  • Interview complainants, witnesses, executives, and key stakeholders
  • Gather, analyze, and evaluate documentary and testimonial evidence
  • Prepare comprehensive investigative findings, reports, and recommendations
  • Advise public agencies, municipalities, educational institutions, and private employers
  • Counsel clients on employment law, compliance, ethics, and governance issues
  • Manage investigations from intake through final reporting
  • Develop litigation‑avoidance and risk‑mitigation strategies
  • Maintain and expand an established client portfolio
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on business development initiatives
  • Mentor junior attorneys and support practice development


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing
  • Significant experience conducting complex workplace and compliance investigations
  • Demonstrated success independently managing investigations from intake through final reporting
  • Established portable investigations practice with approximately $300,000+ in portable annual revenue
  • Outstanding interviewing and witness‑examination skills
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and investigative abilities
  • Strong client‑relationship management and business‑development experience
  • Sound judgment and discretion handling highly confidential matters
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative leadership approach

Preferred:

  • Title IX investigation experience
  • Background representing public agencies or educational institutions
  • Executive misconduct investigation experience
  • Ethics, compliance, or governance advisory experience
  • Organizational culture assessment experience
  • Experience counseling executive leadership teams and governing boards
  • Established reputation within California's investigations community
