IRC68012 Parking Meter Technician

This is specialized work in the installation, maintenance and repair of the City's parking meters, IPS credit card heads, VM Boards, and pay on foot stations. Work also includes maintaining all parts for repair and keeping the warehouse in proper condition. An employee in this position will also assist a traffic engineering assistant planning with special events, projects, and maintenance of traffic plans. Work is performed independently, both in field and shop, under the general direction of an administrative supervisor and is reviewed through conversation, the analysis of reports, observation and the evaluation of results achieved.

Salary: $21.18 - $30.60 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

• Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
• Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
• Possess and maintain the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic Certification -or- obtain and continue to maintain the FDOT Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic Certification within five and one half (5 ½) months of appointment to the position.
• Have some experience repairing parking meters or similar small mechanical devices.
• Be skilled in providing excellent customer service and employing excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Be familiar with street names and locations within downtown St. Petersburg.
• Be able to work a flexible schedule including working evenings and weekends.
• Have previous experience working with the public.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

• Have some understanding of computer technology.
