$50 to $65 per hour contract DOE

Summary
We are seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer to provide immediate support for a high-priority cybersecurity team. This short-term contract role focuses on security operations, engineering, and enterprise security projects while helping maintain business continuity during a staffing transition. The ideal candidate is a hands-on security professional who can quickly integrate into a complex environment with minimal ramp-up.

Responsibilities

• Support daily security operations, incident response, and security investigations.
• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise security technologies across endpoint, identity, network, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Manage and optimize Microsoft security technologies, including Defender, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and Azure security services.
• Support vulnerability management, remediation efforts, and security risk reduction.
• Assist with identity and access management, including MFA, conditional access, and privileged access.
• Support Operational Technology (OT) security initiatives, including Dragos.
• Develop documentation, automate security processes, and drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with infrastructure, cloud, networking, and application teams to strengthen the organization's security posture.

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity engineering, security operations, or infrastructure security experience.
• Strong experience with EDR, SIEM, IAM, vulnerability management, and cloud security.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Defender, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, and Azure security.
• Knowledge of incident response, vulnerability management, and cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST and CIS Controls.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work primarily onsite.

• Experience with Operational Technology (OT) security and Dragos.
• PowerShell or Python scripting for automation.
• Microsoft Sentinel or other SIEM experience.
• Security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, GSEC, or AZ-500.
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
