Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Security Consultant to support the secure handling, integration, transmission, and storage of enterprise data within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
The consultant will focus on securing PeopleSoft data and associated integrations, including data flows, Oracle Database security controls, encryption, access governance, and integration security between PeopleSoft, downstream systems, and identity platforms.
The successful candidate will work closely with Application Security, IAM, Database, Cloud Engineering, Network, and application teams to identify security risks, implement appropriate controls, and ensure data protection aligns with enterprise security and compliance requirements.
Please note: This position requires the consultant to work onsite at 2 Broadway, New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls for enterprise data hosted and processed within OCI.
- Ensure secure handling, transmission, integration, and storage of PeopleSoft data.
- Secure data flows between PeopleSoft, downstream applications, databases, APIs, and identity platforms.
- Implement and maintain Oracle Database security controls, including encryption, auditing, privileged access, and database hardening.
- Configure and support Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and other database-level data protection mechanisms.
- Support Oracle Audit Vault and Unified Auditing for database activity monitoring and security auditing.
- Implement and enforce privileged account controls and appropriate database access governance.
- Apply database hardening standards and identify security weaknesses or misconfigurations.
- Work with PeopleSoft environments and understand PeopleSoft security tables, roles, permission lists, and access controls.
- Review and secure PeopleSoft integrations, web services, APIs, and data exchange mechanisms.
- Support security for SOAP/REST services and API integrations, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
- Assist with data classification and protection of sensitive and confidential information.
- Support data-security and compliance initiatives involving sensitive enterprise data.
- Work with enterprise data-security technologies such as DLP, DRM, and cloud data monitoring solutions.
- Apply Application Security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, session management, and data protection.
- Monitor cloud database activity using logs, events, metrics, and other security monitoring capabilities.
- Investigate security events, access issues, vulnerabilities, and potential data-security risks.
- Partner with IAM, Application Security, DBA, Cloud Engineering, Network, and other technical teams to resolve security issues.
- Participate in security assessments, architecture reviews, risk analysis, and remediation activities.
- Develop and maintain security documentation, standards, procedures, and technical recommendations.
- Communicate security risks, findings, and recommendations effectively to technical and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 4–6 years of experience in Data Security, Database Security, Cloud Security, Application Security, or a related field.
- Strong experience with Oracle Database Security.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
- Oracle Audit Vault
- Unified Auditing
- Privileged account controls
- Database hardening
- Experience with PeopleSoft architecture and security, including security tables, roles, and permission lists.
- Strong understanding of data protection, access controls, encryption, and data-security principles.
- Experience securing enterprise data integrations and data flows.
- Familiarity with SOAP, REST, APIs, and API gateways.
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, session management, and application-level data protection.
- Knowledge of data classification and sensitive-data protection practices.
- Experience with cloud database monitoring, including logs, events, and metrics.
- Familiarity with enterprise data-security technologies such as DLP, DRM, or cloud data monitoring solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience securing PeopleSoft environments deployed in OCI.
- Experience working with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Experience integrating PeopleSoft with downstream enterprise applications and identity platforms.
- Experience with enterprise IAM and access governance.
- Knowledge of cloud security and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with API security and enterprise integration security.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications and databases.
- Relevant Oracle, cloud, cybersecurity, or information-security certifications are a plus.
