IT Software Contracts Specialist - Houston, TX
iSphere is looking for an IT Software Contracts Specialist for a 12-month onsite opportunity in Houston.
This one is for someone who actually negotiates software contracts, not someone who just routes them, tracks signatures, and updates the spreadsheet when everyone else is done.
The client needs someone who can take ownership of IT agreements from beginning to end, dig into the language, redline what needs to change, push back where it makes sense, work through licensing and commercial issues, and keep the contract moving without losing control of the details.
You will be working with software, SaaS, cloud, licensing, Master Agreements, SOWs, NDAs, POCs, renewals, and plenty of situations where Legal, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Finance, IT, and Software Asset Management all have an opinion. Your job is to help get everyone to a workable agreement and make sure the final contract actually protects the business.
What we need:
8+ years of hands-on IT software contract negotiation and redlining
Strong experience with Master Agreements, SOWs, NDAs, POCs, renewals, and licensing agreements
Deep understanding of software licensing and technology contracting
Experience negotiating SaaS, cloud, software, and other technology agreements
Ability to independently manage multiple complex contracts and competing priorities
Experience leading RFP and RFI activity
Strong contract due diligence, issue spotting, and risk identification skills
Experience working directly with Legal, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, Finance, IT, and procurement stakeholders
Strong negotiation, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Bachelor's degree
You should be comfortable getting into the details of licensing rights, usage, confidentiality, commercial terms, renewals, compliance requirements, and total cost of ownership. If the vendor says, “That language is standard,” you should be experienced enough to know when standard still does not mean acceptable.
SAP and Icertis experience would be a plus, along with energy industry procurement experience and a strong understanding of OEM and reseller purchasing channels.
The biggest thing here is hands-on negotiation experience. If most of your background is contract administration, coordination, routing, or tracking, this probably is not the right role. The client needs someone who can open the agreement, start redlining, and own the negotiation.
If software contracts, licensing terms, redlines, and vendor negotiations are familiar territory, we should talk.
