PT Tier 1 Support/IT Break/Fix
Pay: $20-25 per hour
Location: Near Albany, NY (on site)
Employment Type: Part-Time
 
The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a friendly, reliable technician to be the face of IT for its staff. You'll be the person colleagues call when something isn't working, and you'll get them back on track quickly and with a smile. This is a hands-on position that blends technical troubleshooting with genuine people skills, and it suits someone who likes variety and gets satisfaction from solving problems in real time.
 
What You'll Be Doing

• Serving as the first line of support for Windows-based computers and the people who use them
• Resolving operating system problems involving settings, speed, connectivity, printing, peripherals, and user profiles
• Supporting cloud-based virtual desktop environments, including sign-in, access, application, and performance issues
• Helping users with Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 tools
• Diagnosing and repairing hardware such as desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, scanners, and accessories
• Handling basic network troubleshooting: wired and wireless connections, wall ports, patch panels, cables, and simple switch issues
• Supporting a document-management platform and fixing common user and application problems
• Setting up, replacing, and relocating workstations, and helping with office moves and equipment rollouts
• Managing user access, permissions, and software requests according to company policy
• Installing software, updates, and patches, and keeping workstations in good shape
• Keeping clear records of equipment, configurations, and fixes
• Passing complex server, security, application, or network problems to the right specialists
• Following established security, change-management, and support procedures
• Contributing to technology projects and other IT initiatives

• Solid hands-on experience supporting Windows desktops, Microsoft 365, and basic networking
• The ability to explain technical topics clearly and professionally
• Confidence working in a fast-paced environment where problems must be diagnosed and resolved efficiently
• Comfort handling equipment, running cable, and moving around the workplace

Work Setting

• Hands-on, on-site role with frequent in-person interaction
• Occasional work outside regular business hours for deployments, upgrades, maintenance, or urgent issues
