IYA Sushi - Sushi Chef

IYA Sushi & Noodle Kitchen, in Amherst & South Hadley, MA is looking for a skilled sushi chef to join our South Hadley team. The ideal candidate is passionate about sushi rolling, plating, and related cooking techniques, has advanced knife cutting skills, and is capable of executing high quality food in a fast-paced atmosphere. Pay rate is competitive at $17 - $20 an hour based on experience. We're willing to train the right person with a positive mindset and equip them with the skills to prepare specialty sushi dishes & a variety of Asian cuisines.

We are a contemporary Asian restaurant that has something for everyone. A sushi lovers paradise mixed with Asian favorites including ramen, hibachi, tempura and Korean BBQ. Pay rate for this position is competitive based on experience.

The sushi chef's responsibilities include preparing traditional Japanese sushi rice, chopping, slicing, and filleting various kinds of raw fish. As a key member of our team you will help deliver a distinct and elevated Asian dining experience for our guests.

• Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
• Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard.
• Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
• Maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.
• Meet all operating procedures established by the restaurant management.
