    Job Description

    Holy Redeemer Parish in Burton is seeking a part-time (19 hrs/week or less) Janitor/Custodian reporting to the Business Manager.  The position may include irregular hours, occasionally on the weekends and is a non-exempt position.
     
    Responsibilities for Janitor/Custodian: 
    • Maintain floors in a clean state by sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, and waxing them
    • Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling
    • Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms per OSHA/CDC guidelines
    • Clean, sanitize and supply church proper, halls, hallways, and stairways per OSHA /CDC guidelines
    • Setup and breakdown tables and chairs for functions as assigned
    • Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
    • Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment
    • Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
    • Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly
    Qualifications for Janitor/Custodian:
    • Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
    • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
    • Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
    • Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
    • Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
    • Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
    Education:               High School or GED diploma
     
    Experience:             Two years of experience in housekeeping or janitorial work preferred.
     
    Required:                 Must have a valid driver's license. Practicing Catholic preferred.
     
    Physical Demands:  Must be able to move and load equipment and supplies that weigh 50lbs or more. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
                                     Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and climb ladders.
