Janitor

Position Summary

The Janitor's primary responsibility is to maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for children and staff. This includes sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, sanitizing, and performing other routine cleaning tasks throughout the facility.

Essential Functions

• Cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting floors, furniture, school materials, and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and common areas.

• Disinfecting: Using appropriate cleaning agents to sanitize high-touch areas, including door handles, tables, counter tops, chairs, and light switches.

• Trash/Recycle/Compost Removal: Collecting and disposing of trash/recycle/compost from all areas, including classrooms and restrooms.

• Restroom Maintenance: Cleaning, mopping, disinfecting, and restocking restroom facilities.

• Window Cleaning: Washing interior and exterior windows, sills, and frames.

• Floor Maintenance: Assisting with floor cleaning and upkeep.

• Outdoor Play Area Maintenance: Keeping outdoor play areas clean and free of debris or hazards.

• Supply Management: Ensuring adequate supplies of cleaning materials, paper towels, hand soap, etc. Communicate to the supervisor when more cleaning materials are running low and need restock.

• Safety and Security: Ensuring fire and safety regulations are followed, inspecting premises for damage or intrusion, and addressing hazards promptly. Identifying and reporting any potential hazards, such as spills or broken items, to the supervisor.

• Event Support: Setting up equipment, moving furniture, and assisting with school events as needed.

• Seasonal and Outdoor Duties: Snow and ice removal, groundskeeping, mowing lawns, sweeping walkways, and maintaining outdoor areas.

• Maintenance: Performing minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and performing small repair tasks.

• Communicate regularly with staff regarding cleaning updates and potential hazards. Touch base with supervisor daily to ensure important information is shared and understood, and use daily logs to document cleaning needs, safety concerns, and other necessary information.

Pay Rate: $22.97 - $26.39

Hours: 20 hours weekly (4 hours daily)
