Position Summary
Under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor, the Janitorial Worker supports a clean, safe, organized, and sanitary warehouse environment by performing routine janitorial, housekeeping, recycling, and general warehouse maintenance duties.
This position plays an important role in supporting Jordano’s food safety and warehouse sanitation standards by maintaining warehouse, office, break, dock, outdoor, and other assigned work areas in clean and orderly condition. The Janitorial Worker may also assist with warehouse and will-call activities as assigned.

- Schedule: Day shift, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; overtime or schedule adjustments may be required based on business needs.
What You Will Be Doing
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of warehouse and office trash, discards, and recycling.
- Collect, break down, and organize cardboard and operate the cardboard baler when trained and authorized.
- Remove completed cardboard bales and place them in designated areas in accordance with company procedures.
- Collect, organize, and stage pallets in designated warehouse areas.
- Sweep warehouse floors and clean floors using approved scrubbers, mops, and other cleaning equipment.
- Re-sweep, scrub, mop, or clean warehouse areas throughout the workday as needed to maintain sanitary and safe working conditions.
- Respond to and clean spills promptly using appropriate cleaning procedures, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Clean and maintain parking lots, outdoor break areas, dock areas, warehouse work areas, and other assigned locations.
- Collect recycled paper and other recyclable materials and place them in designated containers.
- Arrange carts, pallets, cleaning equipment, and other warehouse materials in a neat, orderly, and safe manner.
- Maintain janitorial supplies and notify the appropriate supervisor when cleaning products or supplies require replenishment.
- Use cleaning products, chemicals, and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions, company procedures, and required safety training.
- Support warehouse sanitation and food safety practices, including applicable HACCP-related housekeeping and contamination-prevention procedures.
- Assist with basic warehouse and will-call activities as assigned and when trained to perform the work safely.
- Identify and report spills, damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, housekeeping concerns, pest concerns, or other potential food-safety or workplace hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all company safety, sanitation, food safety, and warehouse procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, delegated, or required to support warehouse operations.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months of related janitorial, warehouse, maintenance, sanitation, or equivalent work experience and/or training.
- Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned cleaning and maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and remain productive when direct supervision is not present.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety rules, cleaning instructions, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, product labels, and company policies.
- Ability to perform basic janitorial, housekeeping, sanitation, and general warehouse maintenance duties.
- Ability to safely use cleaning supplies, chemicals, cleaning equipment, floor scrubbers, mops, brooms, and other janitorial tools.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including counting and measuring cleaning products or supplies as required.
- Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, warehouse employees, drivers, vendors, and other departments.
- Ability to recognize and report unsafe conditions, spills, damaged equipment, sanitation concerns, and other workplace hazards.
Equipment & Safety Requirements
- Employees must complete required training and receive authorization before operating cardboard balers, powered cleaning equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, or other powered industrial equipment.
- Employees must follow company procedures for chemical handling, hazard communication, spill cleanup, and use of required personal protective equipment.
- Employees assigned warehouse duties involving powered equipment must successfully complete applicable company-required training and certification before operating the equipment independently.
Physical Requirements
- The Janitorial Worker position requires regular physical activity throughout the workday.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, balance, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
- Ability to regularly use hands and arms to handle cleaning tools, equipment, trash, recycling, pallets, supplies, and warehouse materials.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move heavy materials associated with janitorial and warehouse work, including items weighing up to 100 pounds when required.
- Ability to push or pull trash containers, carts, cleaning equipment, pallets, and other warehouse materials.
- Ability to work safely on concrete floors and around warehouse equipment, pallets, racking, docks, and storage areas.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
- Work is performed throughout warehouse, office, break, dock, loading, storage, parking, and outdoor areas.
- Employees may be exposed to wet or slippery floors, humid conditions, moving mechanical equipment, elevated storage areas, vibration, temperature changes, and extreme cold.
- Work may occasionally involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, cleaning products, or other materials commonly present in warehouse and janitorial environments.
- Employees may be required to work in cooler or freezer areas as assigned.
- Employees must follow all safety, sanitation, food safety, and personal protective equipment requirements.
