    • Help manage and coordinate the daily business operations of the franchise when the owner is unavailable, including answering phones, making operational decisions, directing staff and vendors, and resolving business issues as they arise.
    • Maintain and oversee all accounting, computer, and financial records for the franchise, working directly with the franchise's CPA on financial reporting and compliance matters.
    • Be empathetic and show a sense of urgency while communicating through modern technology.

Role on the Team (Job Responsibilities)
    • Establish and maintain rapport with insurance carriers, customers, vendors, subcontractors, adjusters, agents, and fellow employees, exercising independent judgment in managing these relationships.
    • Independently manage all phases of job costing, including analysis and resolution of costing discrepancies.
    • Collect and analyze information – exercise strong listening and communication skills, ask questions, and independently monitor various aspects of the business to detect and resolve problems.
    • Maintain and oversee all accounting, computer, and financial records.
    • Request and maintain updated workplace safety certificates and insurance coverage documentation for subcontractors.
    • Oversee entry of timesheets and processing of payroll for the franchise's non-exempt employees.
    • Independently manage the daily operations of the franchise as needed when the owner is not available, including directing staff, making operational decisions, and resolving issues that arise.
    • Focus on and dedication to providing excellent customer service.

    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English as necessary to prepare and review financial and accounting records, communicate with insurance carriers, customers, vendors, subcontractors, adjusters, and agents, and perform the essential functions of this role. We will consider the specific communication abilities required for the essential functions of this role on an individualized basis.
    • Prior accounting, bookkeeping, or job-costing experience, with demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in financial analysis and decision-making.
    • Prior experience with QuickBooks Online

    Employment Classification
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position under California's administrative exemption. The role requires office work directly related to the management and general business operations of the franchise, the regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment, and that the Job Cost Accountant be primarily engaged (more than half of working time) in that qualifying work.

Because this is an exempt position, the Job Cost Accountant is not eligible for overtime pay, and California's meal- and rest-period premium-pay rules do not apply in the same way they do to non-exempt employees; the company nonetheless encourages reasonable meal and rest breaks consistent with sound business practice.

    Team Compensation and Benefits
    • Leadership development – our company grows from within. Motivated team members can ask about participating in our leadership development initiative to grow their careers and explore new opportunities.
    • Monthly cross-training opportunities to advance your career.
    • Schedule flexibility – we are committed to the well-being of our team. As an exempt, salaried position, this role has flexibility in managing daily start and end times and attending to personal matters, provided the essential duties and responsibilities of the role are fulfilled.
    • Paid training.
    • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
    • Referral program.
    • Great culture and team dynamic.
    • Bonus opportunities based on performance.
