Journeyman Electrician (Commissioning)

GavinHeath is partnering with a client in Cedar Rapids, IA looking to add a Journeyman Electrician to their team. The role is a Direct Hire position.

Responsibilities:

• Perform and follow approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for all Level 3–5 activities.
• Execute AutoLOTO requests and maintain accurate lockout/tagout records for project electrical systems.
• Execute field commissioning tasks including First Time Energization, switching/LDL for AutoLOTO, minor issue resolution, equipment start-up switching, load bank connection and removal, and general Level 3–5 support.
• Carry out pre-functional and functional test plans, energization sequences, and integrated systems testing in compliance with approved plans and permits.
• Follow and enforce safety protocols; coordinate with Safety, QA/QC, and Field Operations to mitigate commissioning risks.
• Enforce safety, executing approved procedures, and ensuring clean turnover documentation.
• Participate in post-project reviews and incorporate lessons learned into field practices.

Qualifications:

• Iowa state electrical licensing in good standing
  • OR reciprocal licensing from AK, AR, CO, MN, MT, NE, NH, ND, OK, SD, TX, WI, or WY.
• Certifications: NFPA 70E and OSHA 30.
• 7+ years of commercial or industrial electrical field experience; data center commissioning experience is highly preferred.
• Proficient with switching practices, LOTO procedures, load bank operations, and MOP adherence.
