Journeyman Mechanic

Pay: Up to $40/hr

Travel Required | Industrial & Commercial Jobsites

Express Employment Professionals is seeking an experienced Journeyman Mechanic to join a growing team. This is a hands-on mechanical trade position focused on equipment installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

• Independently install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment.

• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

• Perform mechanical takeoffs, layout, alignment, and assembly.

• Verify work meets specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.

• Mentor apprentices and helpers and direct small crews as needed.

• Follow JHAs, toolbox talks, PPE requirements, and all jobsite safety procedures.

• Stop and report unsafe work conditions.

• Perform trenching and other jobsite tasks as required.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of mechanical trade experience, including apprenticeship experience.

• NCCER Mechanical certification or equivalent.

• Strong mechanical trade knowledge and troubleshooting skills.

• Able to work independently and make sound trade decisions.

• Experience working with mechanical equipment.

• Able to read blueprints and perform mechanical takeoffs.

• Welding, rigging, or pressure-related certifications are a plus.

• OSHA 30 Construction and jobsite safety training preferred/required.

• Must be willing to travel between industrial and commercial jobsites.

• This is a mechanical position — pipefitter-only experience does not qualify.

Physical Requirements

• Lift 50–75 lbs regularly.

• Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and work overhead.

• Climb ladders and scaffolds.

• Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.

• Wear required PPE.

Schedule & Travel

Travel is required. Nights, weekends, and overtime may be required depending on the jobsite.
