Akicita Federal is hiring Journeyman Pipefitters to install, maintain, and repair critical building and medical facility systems in support of the Dallas VA Medical Center in Dallas, TX. This is hands-on, mission-driven work that directly supports the infrastructure keeping veterans' healthcare running every day. You'll operate with a high degree of independence, working across a diverse range of systems in a dynamic hospital environment.

- Install, maintain, and repair water distribution, drainage, steam, gas, and medical gas systems throughout the medical facility.
- Service and repair sterilizers, laundry equipment, and dietetic equipment used in daily hospital operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute pipefitting work accurately.
- Apply applicable plumbing and safety codes to all work performed, ensuring compliance with facility and regulatory standards.
- Work independently on assigned tasks with periodic oversight, completing jobs from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- Supervise and direct pipefitter helpers on the job site as needed.
- Perform work in a variety of environments including basements, kitchens, mechanical rooms, and manholes — both indoors and outdoors.
$35 - $38 an hour
- Minimum 4 years of journeyman-level pipefitting experience.
- Demonstrated ability to install and maintain plumbing, steam, gas, and medical gas systems.
- Proficiency reading blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Working knowledge of applicable plumbing codes and safety practices.
- Ability to perform frequent physical tasks including standing for extended periods, bending, and working in confined or cramped spaces.
- Ability to pass a government background investigation prior to beginning work on site.
What sets candidates apart:
- Prior experience working in a hospital, healthcare, or other critical-care facility environment.
- Familiarity with medical gas systems (oxygen, nitrous oxide, compressed air) and associated safety protocols.
- Experience servicing commercial sterilization, laundry, or institutional kitchen equipment.
- Previous work on VA or other federal government facilities.
- Journeyman pipefitter license or equivalent trade certification.
