Job Summary: The Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter/Inspector is responsible for the installation, inspection, servicing, and repair of fire sprinkler systems, including wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action systems. This role ensures compliance with national and local fire codes and standards while maintaining strong customer relationships through accurate documentation and communication.
Responsibilities:
Install, inspect, service, and repair wet-pipe, dry-pipe, and pre-action fire sprinkler systems.
Conduct periodic inspections per NFPA 25 standards, including internal piping inspections, obstruction investigations, flow tests, and hydro tests.
Ensure compliance with NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, & 25 and other applicable fire codes and standards.
Accurately document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations using required state/local documentation.
Maintain a professional and positive relationship with customers, addressing any questions, concerns, or service needs.
Participate in an on-call schedule (once every six weeks) to respond to emergency service requests.
Adhere to safety standards and policies to ensure a safe working environment.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter.
Must possess a Wisconsin Fitter Card.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Strong working knowledge of fire sprinkler system codes and standards.
Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, & 25.
Must be a Local 669 union member.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and workload.
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality work.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, tools, equipment, parts, cabling, and wiring.
Frequent ladder climbing, often while carrying up to 50 pounds.
Other Requirements:
Availability to work on-call shifts every six weeks.
Ability to work in various conditions, including heights and confined spaces.
Must be able to work 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet customer scheduling requirements.
Must maintain a safe working environment at all times.
Must keep equipment, tools, and vehicle in clean working order.
