Position Overview

The Junior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. This Junior Accountant position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with reconciliations, journal entries, and core accounting fundamentals. The Junior Accountant will be heavily involved in general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close activities, contributing directly to reliable financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities of the Junior Accountant

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly account reconciliations, including:

  • Bank accounts
  • 
    
  • Fuel card programs
  • 
    
  • Vendor accounts
  • 
    
  • Balance sheet accounts
  • 
    
  
  
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, adjustments, prepaid expenses, and depreciation
• 
  
• Analyze general ledger activity and ensure proper debit and credit application as a detail-focused Junior Accountant
• 
  
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies by partnering with AP, AR, operations, and maintenance teams
• 
  
• Support month-end close by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and variance explanations
• 
  
• Maintain documentation and support internal controls to ensure financial accuracy
• 
  

Qualifications for the Junior Accountant

• 
  
• 1–3 years of experience as a Junior Accountant or in a similar entry-level accounting role
• 
  
• Strong understanding of debits and credits, general ledger structure, and accounting fundamentals
• 
  
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• 
  
• Ability to communicate effectively across cross-functional teams
• 
  
• Comfortable working under deadlines in a fast-paced, operationally driven environment
