Work Schedule

Monday through Friday. 7.5-hour workday with .5-hour unpaid lunch. Paid for actual time worked; there are no paid vacation or sick days. During NYPA and Canals holidays, the business is closed, and no work is permitted. NYPA requires a hybrid schedule of a minimum of 3 days on-site, up to including fully on-site depending on department requirements.

CWPO Engagement Requirements

Candidates are REQUIRED to be local to the Tri-State area and in W2 tax status as an hourly paid employee of Service Provider.
Fully remote positions are prohibited. Hybrid schedules are permissible with a minimum of 3 days on-site depending on assignment and can be fully on-site depending on business needs. Remote work privileges can be revoked at any time.
NYPA does not provide laptops. Instead, NYPA provides desktops and dedicated workstations which candidates will remote into from their personal equipment on virtual days.
If candidate does not have proper equipment, internet connection, or he/she is deemed to not work effectively from home, the hybrid privilege will be revoked.
Vendors must disclose foreign national status and all Visas at the time of candidate submission. Additionally, a Benefits Waiver and Ethics Disclosure will be required of the candidate during onboarding.

Project Overview

We are seeking a junior data scientist to strengthen the team's AI and data analytics capabilities. This contingent worker will support the development and execution of AI use cases, particularly those involving Copilot, and will help manage increasing data analytics requests from the business. Their contribution will enable the team to meet growing demand, accelerate delivery of insights, and enhance overall analytical effectiveness.

Job Functions & Responsibilities

• CoPilot prompt engineering
• CoPilot/CoPilot studio agent and more advanced features
• Advanced data analtyics for operations, using operational data to generate business insights
• Works with greater independence, however, projects are still assigned by Manager/Director of Data Analytics.
• Works under moderate supervision, receiving advice and guidance from Lead Data Scientists.
• Work collaboratively with business partner to understand business analytical needs and propose solutions
• Deliver the data products
• Deliver presentations and reports
• Must meet deadlines set by senior level or above.

Skills

• Advanced CoPilot/CoPilot Studio experience
• Prompt Engineering
• Advanced data analytics skills
• Experts in Python and SQL, and Expert experience working with data analysis libraries and frameworks (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn).
• Familiar with Databricks, Azure Foundry, PowerBI
• Excellent communications skills

Education & Certifications

Bachelor's Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
