Are you looking to kickstart your career in finance with a collaborative and growing team? We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and enthusiastic Junior Accountant to join our San Diego finance department.
In this role, you will support our core accounting team by performing routine financial tasks, maintaining highly accurate records, and assisting with critical month-end processes. This is an ideal position for an early-career professional who is eager to learn, grow, and build a strong foundation in corporate accounting.
What You'll Do:
- General Ledger & Entries: Record financial transactions and prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Invoicing & AR: Generate and review weekly invoices for accuracy and assist with overall accounts receivable processing.
- Month-End Support: Assist the team with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Financial Reporting: Help prepare essential financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Compliance & Audits: Maintain organized documentation, ensure compliance with company policies, and provide requested files for audits.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Perform basic financial analysis and administrative tasks to support the broader finance team.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in progress).
- 0–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
- Basic understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Internship or practical experience in an accounting environment.
- Experience with reconciliations and data entry.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- The role typically requires remaining in a seated or standing position for more than 50% of the workday.
- Frequent and substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers are required for data entry, typing, and operating calculators.
- Precise "close vision" is essential for reading small figures, analyzing complex spreadsheets, and transcribing data from various financial documents.
- Regular use of the spoken word is necessary to exchange detailed financial instructions or reports with team members, both in person and via phone.
- Occasional Physical Tasks
While the role is office-based, it occasionally involves more active physical requirements:
- Lifting and Carrying: Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull objects (such as ledger boxes or audit files) typically weighing between 10 and 25 pounds.
- Mobility: Occasionally required to move throughout the office to access filing cabinets, use communal machinery (printers/copiers), or attend meetings.
- Postural Adjustments: Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or reaching may be necessary to retrieve archived records or organize physical workspaces.
- Workstation Setup: Monitors should be at eye level, and keyboards should allow for a neutral wrist position to prevent neck and wrist strain.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation commensurate with education and experience.
- Health benefits available the first of the month after 60 days of full-time employment.
- Paid Time Off, Paid Holidays and 401k
- A company culture that promotes teamwork, safety, and career growth.
