Job Description
In support of our client, a multidisciplinary engineering firm, ResourceTek has immediate openings for Junior Survey Field Technicians in Chattanooga, Tennessee. These entry-level positions support field and office surveying activities for engineering, transportation, environmental, and infrastructure projects.
Working alongside experienced surveyors and other technical professionals, you will gain hands-on experience with field measurements, data collection, project documentation, and surveying equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and is interested in building foundational skills for a career in surveying and geomatics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the field supervisor with daily surveying activities and assignments
- Set up tripods over designated survey points
- Place survey stakes at designated locations as instructed
- Clear brush, trees, and other obstructions from survey lines using appropriate tools
- Copy, scan, and organize field notes and project documentation
- Carry, clean, and properly maintain surveying instruments, equipment, and tools
- Inspect survey vehicles daily to ensure they contain the equipment and materials needed for field operations
- Keep survey vehicles, parking areas, and office storage areas clean and organized
- Follow established safety procedures and instructions while working in the field
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical tasks associated with field surveying
- Previous experience in a role involving outdoor work is highly desirable
- Ability to follow instructions, work effectively as part of a field crew, and properly care for assigned equipment
- Previous experience as a rod person, instrument person, or survey field technician is preferred but not required
- Interest in surveying, geomatics, engineering, or related technical work
- Interest in pursuing additional education or training in geomatics is highly desirable
