Do you love animals and want to make a difference in their care? Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is seeking a dependable, compassionate Full-Time Kennel Assistant to support our veterinary team at our Marietta, GA location.
Working alongside veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and veterinary assistants, you’ll help care for hospitalized patients and maintain a clean, safe, and organized emergency and specialty veterinary hospital.
What You'll Do
Animal Care: Provide food, water, clean bedding, litter box maintenance, and comfort for hospitalized animals as directed.
Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, runs, treatment areas, equipment, floors, and common spaces while following infection-control protocols.
Laundry and Supplies: Wash and distribute hospital laundry, restock supplies, and maintain organized patient and storage areas.
Patient Support: Safely handle and transport dogs and cats as directed by the clinical team; observe patient behavior and promptly report concerns.
Hospital Operations: Follow cleaning checklists, maintain safe walkways, address spills, and communicate supply shortages, equipment issues, and competing priorities.
What We're Looking For
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in a veterinary hospital, animal shelter, kennel, boarding facility, or animal care setting preferred. Entry-level candidates willing to learn are encouraged to apply.
Compassion for animals and the ability to safely work around dogs and cats, including sick, injured, and recovering patients.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, communication skills, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Willingness to perform routine cleaning, sanitation, laundry, and other essential hospital support duties.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend and kneel as needed, and lift up to 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate equipment when necessary.
Flexibility to work the assigned schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, or overnight shifts depending on hospital needs.
