Position Overview
KidStrong builds confident, high-character kids — and the coach is the product. Coaches deliver a 45-minute, science-based, coach-led class that develops the whole child — brain, body, and character — for kids walking through 11 years old, with the energy and warmth of someone who would want their own kid in the room.
Roles on the Floor
Every class runs with a Point Coach and a Rover Coach. Coaches are trained and certified in both and rotate between them. Some shifts are Lobby shifts.
Point Coach — runs the class
- Owns the clock: classes start and end on time; blocks are trimmed or extended to stay on pace.
- Teaches the brain slides with confidence; creates teaching moments, not just readings.
- Big celebrations, voice inflection, and names — every kid feels seen.
- Checks in with the Rover Coach before ending a block.
- Completes the After-Action Report (AAR) for the class.
Rover Coach — makes the Point Coach great
- Echoes and hypes the Point Coach while staying hands-on: correcting technique and keeping kids safe.
- Sets up and transitions equipment, including solo set-ups during transitional activities.
- Holds the Point Coach accountable on timing; initiates communication.
- Owns class operations: final attendance during warm-up, awards during the course, and waiver/document photos when missing.
Lobby Coach / Front Desk — the first and last impression
- Greets every family by name; checks in, answers questions, books trials, and speaks confidently about the program.
- Keeps the lobby and center clean and on-brand.
- Supports GloFox member tasks and daily admin as assigned.
Mentor — every coach, every class
- Has fun questions, jokes, or one-liners ready before class; asks parents about life outside KidStrong.
- Gives families one takeaway per class to work on at home.
Responsibilities
- Coach ages 15 months–11 years with the current week's programming; understand the "why" behind the curriculum and explain it to parents in one sentence.
- Create positive interactions with students and families before, during, and after class; maintain a dynamic, fun, motivational, and professional demeanor.
- Record attendance, awards, and progress in the KS Coach App.
- Read and react to the daily Shift Operations Report (SOR) in the center's Slack channel; post AARs as assigned.
- Maintain daily and weekly cleaning and equipment checklists.
- Communicate professionally in Slack; check messages before shifts.
- Complete required KidStrong University modules before training and on an ongoing basis.
- Coach special events (Parents' Night Out, birthday parties, camps) when scheduled.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically intensive role: coaches cover multiple miles per shift, lift and repeatedly move equipment up to 25 pounds, demonstrate movements, and physically spot kids to ensure proper technique and safety.
Qualifications
- Passion for working with kids is non-negotiable.
- Athletic, coaching, teaching, or pediatric OT/PT background preferred.
- Comfortable talking to parents.
- Reliable, on time, and a self-starter.
- CPR certified (or within 30 days of hire).
- Must pass a background check and achieve KidStrong Coach Certification.
