Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook – Hearst Castle

OneSource Employment Solutions is seeking a dependable, hardworking Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook to join the food service team at a well-known tourist destination in the beautiful Hearst Castle area of San Simeon, California.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a kitchen environment, takes pride in keeping things clean and organized, and is comfortable assisting with basic food preparation and cooking.

Extensive cooking experience is not required! We are primarily looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to help wherever needed in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation, including washing, cutting, portioning, and preparing ingredients.
  

• Perform simple cooking tasks using kitchen equipment such as fryers and flat-top grills.
  

• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
  

• Clean and sanitize countertops, food preparation areas, and kitchen surfaces.
  

• Sweep, mop, and maintain clean kitchen floors.
  

• Stock food, supplies, and kitchen inventory as needed.
  

• Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food products and supplies.
  

• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
  

• Support kitchen staff with general duties to keep daily operations running smoothly.
  

Requirements

• Previous experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, food preparation, or dishwashing is preferred but not required.
  

• Comfortable performing basic cooking tasks or willing to learn.
  

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  

• Dependable, punctual, and able to consistently work the assigned schedule.
  

• Willingness to perform a variety of kitchen tasks, including cleaning and dishwashing.
  

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform routine physical kitchen duties.
  

• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices is a plus.
  

• Spanish-speaking or bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply. Bilingual ability is helpful but not required.
  

• California Food Handler Card preferred, or willingness to obtain one if required.
  

Schedule & Compensation

• Days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
  

• Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  

• Starting Pay: $25.00 per hour
  

• Pay Flexibility: Higher starting wages may be considered for candidates with relevant kitchen experience.
  

• Work Location: On-site in the Hearst Castle / San Simeon area.
