The Role

As a Kitchen Suppression Technician in Louisville, you will inspect, maintain and repair kitchen fire suppression systems, portable fire extinguishers and emergency lighting in commercial kitchens. Not certified yet? Silco provides up to 2 months of paid training to help you earn your Kentucky portable fire extinguisher and pre-engineered systems certifications.

What You'll Do (Essential Functions)

• Inspect and test kitchen suppression systems to ensure proper function and code compliance.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on kitchen suppression systems, exit and emergency lighting and portable fire extinguishers.
• Diagnose and resolve system issues, identifying root causes.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, maintenance and repairs.
• Communicate with customers, answer questions and address concerns.
• Obtain Kentucky certifications for portable fire extinguishers and pre-engineered (kitchen) fire suppression systems, issued by the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction (HBC), Division of Fire Prevention within 2 months of hire if not already certified (training provided).
• Follow all codes, standards and regulations for kitchen fire suppression systems.

What You Bring

Required

• Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools (wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, drills).
• Willingness to learn to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Silco's vehicle insurance requirements.
• No prior fire protection experience required; we will train motivated candidates.

Preferred

• Kentucky certifications for portable fire extinguishers and pre-engineered (kitchen) fire suppression systems, issued by the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction (HBC), Division of Fire Prevention.
• Experience with wet chemical, dry chemical or other pre-engineered systems.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to climb ladders, use lifts, and work at various heights.
• Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching throughout the workday.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces or outdoor environments as needed.
• Requires occasional pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
• Must be able to wear and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Capable of driving company vehicles and transporting equipment or materials when needed.
• Ability to remain alert and focused while performing detailed or repetitive tasks.
