Job Description

The Lab Assistant is responsible for relabeling and processing specimens for referral, scanning, and tracking incoming samples. This role involves preparing specimens for shipment to external reference laboratories and performing basic packaging, labeling, and box assembly tasks. The Lab Assistant must maintain accurate documentation and specimen tracking, ensuring quality and accuracy throughout the specimen handling process.

Responsibilities

• Relabel and process specimens for referral, scan, and track incoming samples.
• Prepare specimens for shipment to external reference laboratories.
• Perform basic packaging, labeling, and box assembly.
• Maintain accurate documentation and specimen tracking.
• Ensure quality and accuracy throughout the specimen handling process.

Essential Skills

• Experience in laboratory settings.
• Knowledge of toxicology.
• Must have a High School Diploma (HSD).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with specimen handling and tracking.
• Ability to perform packaging and labeling tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a night shift from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Employees have access to a coffee bar during night shifts and a 24-hour quick check near the lab for breaks. The organization offers excellent training and leadership, providing opportunities for growth into other departments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicopee, MA.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
