Job Description:

The Lab Manager Technician will be responsible for the daily coordination, operation, and maintenance of laboratory facilities to ensure compliance with Smith+Nephew’s quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
This role will support laboratory testing activities, manage equipment and supplies, and provide technical assistance to internal teams to enable efficient and compliant laboratory operations.

Key Responsabilities:
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage laboratory equipment, including calibration, preventive maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting to ensure availability and accuracy.
• Manage the asset tracking system to ensure all asset locations, state, and availability are current
• Coordinate inventory of laboratory supplies, chemicals, and consumables; place orders as needed to avoid disruptions.
• Support testing activities by preparing samples, conducting routine tests, and ensuring accurate data recording.
• Upgrade and downgrade software on the robotic devices to support daily testing activities
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure proper documentation of laboratory activities.
• Train and guide laboratory staff, interns, or contractors on safety and technical procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Manufacturing) to support projects requiring laboratory services.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in alignment with company EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards.
• Prepare reports, metrics, and updates for management regarding laboratory performance and compliance status.

What are the Mandatory skills and skill proficiencies required for this position?
• Technical degree in Laboratory Sciences, Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience working in laboratory environments, preferably within the medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards, regulatory guidelines, and quality management systems (ISO, GMP, GLP).
• Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and laboratory management systems.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong customer service mindset.
