Every patient result starts with a specimen that has to arrive, be logged, tested and reported correctly and on time. In this role, you keep that journey running smoothly. You bring hands-on clinical laboratory operations experience and use it to make sure specimens move reliably from receipt through testing and reporting, while the lab meets its quality and regulatory standards.

Role overview

You will be involved in the day-to-day running of a clinical laboratory, with a clear view of how each stage connects to the next. Your work affects how quickly results reach the people who need them, how well the team is staffed and how consistently the lab meets CLIA and CAP requirements. If you enjoy keeping a complex process organised and finding ways to make it work better, this role gives you room to do both.

What you will do

• Oversee specimen accessioning and the workflow that follows, so samples are received, logged and routed accurately.
• Support testing operations so work moves through the lab efficiently.
• Manage send-outs to reference laboratories.
• Monitor and work to improve turnaround time.
• Plan and manage staffing so the lab has the coverage it needs.
• Maintain quality processes that keep results dependable.
• Identify and carry out process improvements that make the lab's work smoother and more consistent.
• Keep operations aligned with CLIA and CAP requirements.

What you bring

• Hands-on experience in clinical laboratory operations.
• A clear understanding of how specimens move from receipt through testing and reporting.
• Practical experience with specimen accessioning and workflow, testing operations, send-outs and turnaround time.
• Experience with staffing and quality processes in a laboratory setting.
• A track record of process improvement.
• Working knowledge of CLIA and CAP operational requirements.
