    Description

    POSITION SUMMARY
    The AIP technician assistant is responsible for laboratory support functions that allow accurate, high quality necropsy/histology study work for rodent and non-rodent safety studies in compliance with the study protocol, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards, animal welfare regulations, and departmental policies/procedures. The pathology data collected and processed on these studies enable candidate selection, first-in-human studies, 13-week studies and early research and target safety and investigative work
    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
    " Supports study set up to prepare for necropsy and histology portions of non GLP and GLP studies.
    " In a structured environment, may train to fully support necropsy and histology techniques as outlined in our SOPs and directed by study protocols
    " Communicates with the pathologist and laboratory manager to ensure proper collection, handling and submission of specimens, as well as, proper handling of all supportive documentation, including chain of custody forms for outsourced work
    " Ensures proper use of and preventative maintenance of equipment and laboratory space
    " Ensures full traceability of his/her work and of specimens
    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
    " Pathology line, including Pathologists, Global AIP Lab Leader, DSRD AIP Laboratory Managers and AIP scientists and Technicians.
    " Global Pathology Quality Control Team and Global Pathology Slide Scanning Lead
    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    Minimum
    " HS degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience
    OR
    " A.S Degree with 0-2 years of relevant experience
    Preferred Qualifications
    " A.S. Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience
    " Good Laboratory Practice Proficiency
    TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
    Technical Skills Required:
    " Foundation in general laboratory skills and processes
    o Understanding of standard operating procedures (SOP)
    o Compliance with lab safety and personal protective equipment guidelines
    " Able to recognize, document, and resolve data errors
    " Able to multitask while maintaining a high level of efficiency and quality
    Technical Skills Preferred:
    " Basic technical knowledge and/or skills of relevant disciplines (histology, animal science)
    " Hands on experience with one or more of the following technical skills
    o Necropsy or tissue collection
    o Histology: microtomy, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, histology slide staining techniques
    " Experience working in a GLP lab environment.
    PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    " The position requires performing ex vivo work and therefore the colleagues must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
    " They must be able to physically perform the technical procedures that may require lifting, sitting, standing, walking, and bending
