Lab Technician - Senior Level, Sterility Assurance (Contract)

Location: San Diego, CA 92130 | Pay Rate: $32.50/hr | Schedule: M-F, 6:30am start or later

About the Role

Join our dynamic microbiology team as a Senior Lab Technician, specializing in Sterility Assurance. Reporting to the Microbiology Lab Supervisor, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the highest quality standards in microbiological testing and supporting innovation in a collaborative lab environment. Responsibilities

• Perform sterility testing (Sterility Dose Audits, Biological Indicators) and non-sterile bioburden testing with precision and adherence to protocols
• Conduct LAL (Bacterial Endotoxins) testing and manage validations/revalidations
• Prepare culture media and sterilize laboratory equipment to support test accuracy
• Monitor environmental conditions in lab and controlled areas
• Accurately document, analyze, and trend test data; maintain QMS records
• Review and update Quality Management System documents and procedures as required
• Identify and communicate any compliance issues to management, ensuring regulatory alignment
• Assist in training new associates and support continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain a positive, cooperative team dynamic and support implementation of new lab equipment as needed

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related science field
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a sterility assurance microbiology laboratory
• Proven expertise in sterility, bioburden, and LAL testing
• Familiarity with ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820, and related regulatory standards
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy

Preferred Skills

• 10 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Experience with environmental monitoring and lab equipment design
• Excellent communication skills; proactive team player; quick learner
