Job Description

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking a detail-oriented Label Machine Operator to join the Woodland Distribution Center team. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America.

Our new DC is a 500,000 sq. ft. packaging, labeling, and distribution facility supporting retail and foodservice customers. With advanced technology and a strong commitment to quality and sustainability, the DC is a model for excellence in distribution and logistics. This facility is a year-round labeling and shipping operation with approximately 70 employees and three production lines.

Pay Rate: $30.15 per hour. This is a full-time, on-site role (40 hours per week), with occasional weekend and overtime hours required as needed. This position is part of a seniority-based (CBA) Collective Bargaining Unit, and you must be available for first and second shift.

The Label Machine Operator is designated and works under the direction of DC Management, such as a Manager, Superintendent, or Salaried Supervisor, and has full responsibility for:

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust automatic and semi-automatic labeling machinery throughout the production run.
  • Ensure proper label placement, alignment, and secure adherence on all finished goods.
  • Verify label accuracy, including date codes, lot numbers, designations, and unique product identifiers.
  • Perform regular quality checks to ensure all finished packaging meets internal specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Load and replenish label rolls, adhesives, and other necessary operating supplies to keep the line moving without interruption.
  • Coordinate directly with line operators and plant leadership to maintain consistent workflow and order counts.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and conduct minor equipment troubleshooting when needed.
  • Accurately document production counts, quality inspections, equipment downtime, and maintenance logs.
  • Promptly identify and report any packaging defects, code discrepancies, or machinery malfunctions.
  • Clean and sanitize labeling equipment and keep your immediate work station organized and hazard-free.
  • Assist team members with smooth line changeovers between different product sizes or label designs.
  • Step in to relieve or support other packaging positions during line breaks, absences, or peak production periods.
  • Contribute practical ideas for continuous improvement to enhance packaging efficiency and safety.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver materials up to 50 lbs comfortably throughout your shift.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills to follow operating instructions and complete production logs.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to lead and support coworkers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Keen attention to detail to catch visual defects or coding errors before items move downstream.
  • Reliable team player attitude dedicated to keeping the plant safe, clean, and productive.

Why Join PCP?

Become part of a team where your work truly matters. For over 50 years, our farmer-owned company has led the industry through innovation and a shared commitment to excellence. As an employee represented by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), you'll be the backbone of our operations, ensuring everything runs safely, efficiently, and reliably every day.
