    Labor & Delivery Manager - Corpus Christi, TX

    Full-Time Leadership | Monday-Friday Days | $36.43-$51.00/Hour | Relocation Available (Case-by-Case)

    Overview

    Lead a comprehensive Labor & Delivery unit at a 630+ bed healthcare system in Corpus Christi, Texas, featuring 19 labor beds, 5 Obed rooms, and 3 surgical suites. This Labor & Delivery Manager role oversees 80 FTEs providing high-quality maternal care within a full-service Women's Center with NICU support and graduate medical education program. The facility offers state-of-the-art cardiovascular services, bariatric, GYN, and robotic surgery across the Coastal Bend community. The position reports to the Director and includes rotating on-call coverage (every 3rd week) for postpartum, antepartum, and labor/delivery support.     Responsibilities

    • Ensure high-quality, patient-centered obstetric care through oversight of daily function and staffing of labor and delivery operations.
    • Monitor and evaluate provision of nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures across 19 labor beds, 5 Obed rooms, and 3 surgical suites.
    • Hold staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes in support of facility objectives and maternal safety standards.
    • Manage 80 FTEs ensuring appropriate clinical competencies, staffing levels, and competency validation for labor and delivery nursing.
    • Oversee daily operations including patient flow, admission processes, and coordination with NICU, anesthesia, and obstetric teams.
    • Provide rotating on-call coverage every 3rd week for postpartum, antepartum, and labor/delivery units (phone calls and emergency notifications).
    • Develop and implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and optimize maternal-fetal outcomes.
    • Support efforts to reduce clinical practice variation and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost while maintaining quality care.
    • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, state regulations, and hospital policies for obstetric services.
    • Facilitate interdisciplinary care coordination within women's services and across departments to meet patient and family needs.
    • Provide leadership in attaining unparalleled patient experience, instilling accountability for positive patient interactions.
    • Identify development opportunities and training needs for labor and delivery staff, supporting professional growth and certification.
    • Assist with budget management, supply utilization, and resource allocation to maintain operational excellence.
    • Review feedback mechanisms and identify opportunities to improve patient satisfaction and elevate labor and delivery experience.
    • Collaborate with Director and obstetric leadership to support graduate medical education and women's services strategic initiatives.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma
    • Current Texas RN license in good standing or active multi-state compact license
    • Minimum 1 year of recent (within last year) leadership experience in Labor & Delivery
    • Strong clinical expertise in obstetric nursing, high-risk deliveries, and maternal-fetal care
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    • Availability for rotating on-call coverage (every 3rd week)

    Preferred:

    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
    • Previous L&D management or charge nurse experience
    • Specialty certifications (RNC-OB, C-EFM, NRP)
    • Experience in teaching hospitals with graduate medical education programs

    • Hourly Pay: $36.43-$51.00 (minimum to maximum based on 15+ years experience)
