Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Laboratory and Simulation Manager will develop a simulation program for the nursing department, will coordinate and incorporate evolving curriculum changes into the instructional labs, assist with proposals for grants and orient faculty to equipment used during instructional labs, and manage the overall laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
Develops comprehensive simulation program for implementation across the nursing curriculum
Oversees and provides mentorship for all instructors teaching in the laboratory setting
Leads the simulation lab in design, development, implementation, and evaluation of new courses, scenarios, simulation tools, research studies, and other educational initiatives to measure learning outcomes using simulation and clinical education best practices
Coordinates with the course coordinators to schedule students for supplemental simulation activities
Coordinates with the course coordinator to schedule live GU/GYN demonstrations/instructions with standardized patients
Manages and conducts inventory of supplies and equipment
In consultation with the director, monitors budget and places replenish orders
Keep abreast of new equipment used in the field of nursing and obtain information on said equipment for consideration of purchasing
Maintains safe working function of equipment and environment
Trains lab members in lab safety, experimental design, and data interpretation
Prepares monthly summaries of student and faculty use of lab/equipment
Generates data reports
Oversees general maintenance and repair of all simulation equipment including high-fidelity simulators, computers, monitors, part-task trainers, audiovisual and debriefing systems
Provides technical support for high- and mid-fidelity simulators and lo-fidelity equipment/part task trainers
Assesses staff development needs, identifies goals and provides resources
Identifies areas of improvement in performance and establishes a plan which includes goals, interventions, and measures
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Master of Science in Nursing required.
Must have experience with simulation in a healthcare education or training environment.
Experience/certification with high fidelity simulation and experience teaching in the laboratory/simulation environment.
Knowledge of Academic Electronic Health Record (AEHR) system.
One (1) year in supervisory lab position.
Maximum Salary
USD $105,000.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $84,000.00/Yr.
