Join the ORMC Core Laboratory team and play a key role in supporting patient care, specimen processing, and laboratory operations while helping ensure exceptional service and quality outcomes. About the Role As a Laboratory Assistant III, you will serve as a vital resource within the laboratory, providing advanced specimen processing support, coordinating workflow, assisting customers and clinical staff, and helping maintain efficient laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities Receive, process, label, centrifuge, and distribute specimens for testing Register patients and enter laboratory orders into hospital information systems Demonstrate expertise in specimen collection, handling, and processing requirements Research and resolve customer requests and issues Ensure follow-up and communication regarding patient care concerns Support billing, reference testing, scheduling, and laboratory operations Direct workflow and assist team members in meeting departmental expectations Train and support laboratory staff as needed Serve as a liaison between the laboratory, physicians, nursing teams, clients, and vendors Order and maintain laboratory supplies Process pathology specimens and coordinate courier pickups Document specimen quality concerns and participate in quality improvement efforts Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment Assist with report distribution and departmental communications Additional Opportunities May perform phlebotomy upon completion of approved competencies May perform IV starts with approved training and competency validation Participate in laboratory quality improvement initiatives Help maximize departmental productivity and customer satisfaction Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required Experience Three (3) years of laboratory, patient care, or patient business experience required Licensure/Certification None required Why Orlando Health?
