Job Overview

A respected healthcare system in Southern California is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee day-to-day operations across its accredited acute-care hospitals. This role is ideal for an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with leadership experience who is ready to step into a management-level position.

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for supervising laboratory staff, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and supporting operational goals while fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the laboratory and supervise Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) and Lab Assistants.
  • Ensure adherence to protocols and compliance with TJC, CLIA, DHS, and other regulatory standards.
  • Manage workload distribution, staffing, and scheduling for optimal workflow.
  • Support laboratory testing functions across disciplines such as immunology, microbiology, genetics, and biochemistry.
  • Monitor performance, provide coaching, and foster team development.
  • Partner with leadership to achieve operational and financial objectives.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Active California CLS license.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a CLS.
  • At least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a laboratory setting.

Preferred:

  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Acute-care hospital experience.
