• Pay Rate: $44.00 $48.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Rotating shifts including:

- Day Shift: 0600 1430 or 0700 1530 - Mid Shift: Noon 2030 or 1000 1830 (when minimal staffing is in place) - Evening Shift: 1400 2230 - Night Shift: 2100 0730 (7 on / 7 off 10-hour shifts) - Training period: 8-hour shifts 5 days per week (approximately one month), 7:00 AM 3:30 PM each day

• On-Call: Required, as needed

Job Summary

This is a generalist Medical Laboratory Scientist contract role at a Short Term Acute Care / Level IV Trauma Center, filling critical staffing gaps across multiple shifts. The facility is experiencing a severe staffing shortage and requires a highly flexible generalist who can cover nightshift, evenings, mid-shifts, and rotating weekends as needed. Nightshift availability is requested, but only for candidates able to work alone after completing training and demonstrating competency. Once permanent staff are fully trained, travelers will continue to serve as flex techs covering vacation requests, illness, and any staffing holes as needed; if the facility is fully staffed, travelers will work the bench while lead techs complete administrative duties, reports, and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a flex generalist covering various shifts as needed due to severe staffing shortage, including nightshift, evenings, mid-shifts, and rotating weekends
• Complete a training period of 8-hour shifts 5 days per week (approximately one month), 7:00 AM 3:30 PM each day, prior to independent shift coverage
• Work independently on nightshift after training and competency verification, if applicable
• Cover any staffing needs as a flex person across all major shift gaps, including nightshift (2100 0730, 7 on/7 off 10-hour shifts), evening shift (1400 2230), mid-shifts (Noon 2030 or 1000 1830), and day shifts (0600 1430 or 0700 1530)
• Cover vacation requests, illness, and staffing holes once permanent staff are fully trained
• Work the bench to allow lead techs to complete administrative time, reports, and projects when the facility is fully staffed
• Perform laboratory testing across all general lab disciplines as a generalist
• Perform Blood Bank functions as required
• Utilize Epic (EPIC hardstop requirement in effect)

Required Skills

• Generalist Medical Laboratory Scientist skills covering multiple laboratory disciplines
• Blood Bank experience required
• Ability to work independently on nightshift after training and competency verification
• Proficiency with Epic (EPIC hardstop requirement)
• Availability for rotating weekends (rotating weekends only after fully trained)
• Flexibility to cover nightshift, evening, mid-shift, and day shift schedules as needed
