The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary

The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University seeks a Laboratory Operations Coordinator to serve as a primary point of contact for research support, facilities coordination, and general troubleshooting. This role acts as a centralized resource to ensure laboratory operations are responsive and aligned with institutional standards.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Inventory

  • Collect and organize purchasing and vendor data to analyze trends.
  • Coordinate with the Columbia Procurement Office on specialty equipment requests and contract reviews.

Facilities & Space Management

  • Track and escalate infrastructure or maintenance issues to Columbia Facilities.
  • Support lab move coordination and maintain research space databases.

Operational Support

  • Manage day-to-day research support programs, including emergency backup freezer monitoring.
  • Maintain electronic resource catalogs.

Lifecycle Management

  • Facilitate faculty onboarding and offboarding related to lab readiness, equipment, and space.

Troubleshooting & Compliance

  • Serve as a resource to resolve operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational policies.

Other duties as assigned

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree or equivalent in education and experience plus three years of related experience.

Other Requirements

  • Experience supporting laboratory operations and research environments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and judgment, with the ability to act as a liaison between faculty, administration, and central services.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
