Performs a variety of laboratory experiments such as histology, flow cytometry, molecular techniques, gene sequencing, and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis, and may perform microsurgical procedures. Ensures conformity to specifications.

Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.

Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.

Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and log books. Organizes and documents results.

Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment.

The Megli Lab at Magee-Womens Research Institute, University of Pittsburgh, is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join our team investigating how early-life exposures shape reproductive, placental, fetal, and maternal health.

Our placental research program has expanded substantially, with multiple ongoing and newly funded studies focused on placental development, host-pathogen interactions, innate immunity, and pregnancy complications. These studies rely heavily on the timely collection, processing, and experimental use of human placental and fetal membrane specimens. We are requesting a new part-time research position to support these activities. The individual will assist with processing of obstetric clinical specimens, preparation and maintenance of primary tissue and cell culture models, sample tracking and performance of routine laboratory assays. The position will also provide technical support for ongoing studies using placental explants, fetal membranes, trophoblast models, and placental immune cells.
