Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Hughes Lab within the Aging & Metabolism Research Program is seeking a motivated part-time Laboratory Technician to support studies on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate skeletal muscle size and function, particularly in the context of disease and aging. One interest of the laboratory is understanding the role of post-translational modifications, such as ubiquitination and acetylation, on the regulation of nuclear receptors and in different sexes. This work involves the use of in vitro and in vivo models with a variety of laboratory techniques to advance our understanding of muscle biology.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Processing tissue and cell lysates samples, including RNA/DNA isolation and protein biochemistry.

Learning techniques in cell culture, immunocytochemistry.

Participating in lab meetings and departmental discussions.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures.

Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and meet deadlines.

Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording.

Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with an interest in Molecular Biology are strongly encouraged to apply.

Work Hours

Part-time schedule with hours occurring between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
