Position Summary:

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in detailed outdoor work and enjoys contributing to vibrant, welcoming community spaces. The Landscaping/Maintenance Technician maintains outdoor spaces by mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, and mulching using hand and power tools to care for lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds. This role will provide landscaping and ground maintenance for the single-family homes, multifamily homes, and residential buildings as designated by the manager. Maintain and ensure that grounds are free from safety hazards, and neat in appearance at all times.

Essential Functions:

  • Lawn Care: Mowing, edging, watering, fertilizing, aerating and raking. Mow and edge grass at the correct height, trim around all obstacles, aerate and thatch, check and treat with chemicals for insects, disease and moss.
  • Plant Care: Planting, pruning, trimming hedges/shrubs, mulching beds and removing dead plants. Assess and maintain health, including identifying and treating insects and diseases.
  • Pest & Weed Control: Mix/apply fertilizers and weed/pest control agents in a safe and timely fashion as directed and/or approved. 
  • Installation: Planting new vegetation, installing irrigation, lights, patios, walkways or fencing.
  • Seasonal Work: Snow or ice removal, leaf removal, preparation of units for winter conditions. Advise manager and/or Leadsperson of necessary maintenance and/or repairs to sidewalks, drain covers, parking areas, light posts, signs, etc.
  • Site Maintenance: Cleaning and removing debris, trash and snow, maintaining equipment and structures.
  • Operations: Driving to sites loading/unloading tools and adhering to safety protocols. 
  • Order supplies/materials needed to perform work. Pick up and sign for supplies/materials as necessary. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Education and/or Experience: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one and or two years of experience working in landscape maintenance such as mowing, edging, pruning, planting, transplanting and diagnosing plants and flowers.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training 

  • Associate's degree in horticulture, biology or related field and two years of experience performing landscape maintenance.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Standard safety practices related to relevant tools and equipment.
  • Horticulture, plant health, maintenance and soils.
  • Chemical application and related safety procedures.
  • Prior landscape experience preferred
  • Has a positive, can-do attitude
  • Computer usage including related software. 
Ability to: 

  • Operate and provide training in the safe use of vehicles, heavy equipment, power and hand tools
  • Read blueprints, schematic diagrams and technical manuals
  • Schedule multiple projects concurrently
  • Safely utilize related protective gear and safety equipment
  • Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
  • Perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Other Requirements 

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
Working Conditions:

This job operates in an office setting.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment.  Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm. No remote options are available.

COMPENSATION / BENEFITS: 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. PCRI provides a generous benefits package that includes 10 days of paid Vacation after the completion of one year of employment that increases over time to 20 paid days. In addition to paid vacation, PCRI’s annual benefits package includes 9 days of paid Sick Leave and 3 days of paid Personal Time Off, 11 paid holidays, employer paid health coverage (medical, dental, vision) that requires a contribution for employee if dependents added to plan, Long Term Disability Insurance, 403(B) employer match contribution of up to 3% of employee’s annual salary. Voluntary benefits include: Life Insurance, Short Term Disability insurance, critical and accidental insurance. 

Compensation Range:  $20-$24/hr

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
Must be able to regularly walk up and down stairs up to 8 hours per day. 
• Must have the ability to stoop, twist, reach, and pull. 
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hours a day. 
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
