Job Title: Laser Programmer – CNC / Sheet Metal FabricationLocation: Katy, TXJob Type: Full TimeExperience Level: 3+ yearsAbout the RoleJelec is seeking a Laser Programmer to join our Engineering / Technical Services team and support the rollout of our new Amada EMLZ15AJPE automated fabrication system. This role is focused on programming and process development, not machine operation. You will work directly with mechanical engineers to translate designs into optimized, production-ready programs for our laser and turret punch systems. This is a critical position that sits at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing, ensuring designs are efficiently and accurately converted into fabricated components.Key ResponsibilitiesProgramming & Process DevelopmentCreate and optimize CNC programs for laser and turret punch operations using AP100, VPSS, or similar nesting/CAM softwareConvert engineering drawings (DXF, STEP, SolidWorks, etc.) into production-ready programsOptimize:Nesting and material utilizationTool selection and turret configurationCutting parameters and sequencingEngineering InterfaceWork closely with mechanical engineering to:Review part designs for manufacturability (DFM)Recommend design improvements to reduce cost and improve throughputServe as the bridge between design intent and fabrication executionQualification / Skills3+ years experience in CNC programming for sheet metal fabricationStrong experience with:Laser cutting and/or turret punch programmingNesting / CAM software (AP100, VPSS, or equivalent)Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and CAD modelsUnderstanding of:Sheet metal fabrication processesMaterial behavior (steel, stainless, aluminum#J-18808-Ljbffr
